The cat with a blood disorder
Angus was a beautiful jet black cat with a rare and serious blood disorder. The medical term is “polycythemia.” The bone marrow overproduces red blood cells with the result of thickened blood. When this happens, blood has difficulty moving through the small blood vessels in the body. Slower blood flow means fewer nutrients and less oxygen delivered to the tissues. The muscles and brain require the most nutrients and oxygen, so animals with thicker blood from polycythemia feel tired, sluggish, and weak. When he was feeling particularly badly, Angus also threw up.
Unfortunately this condition is not curable and is only treatable to a degree. Although this sounds a bit barbaric, the treatment is to periodically bleed him to release the excess blood cells. After each bleed Angus returns to his normal playful and mischievous self. Over time the buildup of cells once again causes him to feel badly. And even this isn’t a long term solution. The vet had warned the family that with each bleed, scar tissue will build up over the site. Eventually it becomes no longer possible to bleed him.
When I connected with Angus I could feel he was very eager for my help. It was a delight to work with him. In fact each time I connected I could feel a strong surge of energy flow through me. I began by visualizing the bone marrow cells and sending the intention to them to slow production of the cells. I imagined the blood becoming thinner and Angus feeling more lively. I usually included one or two essential oils to help him battle the fatigue and stomach issues, I tried to clear the stagnant energy flow within him and boost his spirits. And I sent him an oil for endurance. This was going to be a long haul.
Treating long term chronic conditions usually doesn’t offer much reward right away. I could only gauge my success early on by this owner’s reports of how he seemed to be feeling and how often he needed to be bled. It felt we were on the right track when I received the following from his owner:
“I think we have been helping him! He’s very lively and playful. Before he was always sluggish and down. My parents both keep saying ‘Wow, he’s doing so much better’, and he’s able to go longer between (bleeding) sessions than we expected. Like three times longer!”
