When to ask for help

When should you ask for energetic healing and how long does it take to work?

It can be difficult to know when to turn to outside help when your pet is showing signs of illness. Do you wait to see how it goes, monitoring them carefully, or do you jump for the phone to call the vet immediately? Everyone has their own threshold of unease that prompts them to make that call. It also varies depending on the animal and the problem, but most people know when a call to the vet is in order. How do you know when to ask for additional help in the form of remote energy?

The term “Energy Healer” can be quite vague. There are several forms of energetic h ealing that can help people and animals. I won’t go into them here; a great deal of information can be found on the internet that can do the topic greater justice than I can in this short newsletter. I will make a general distinction between two modalities. Some energy healers work with meridians and chakras, clearing imbalances and moving “stuck” energy to improve overall physical and emotional wellness. Many energy healers believe illness, and even some injuries, arise from a state of energy blockage. Freeing that up can correct the problem at the source and hopefully prevent reoccurrence. This is akin to ‘preventative medicine”. Prevention is always a good thing.

What I do is a bit different. I see myself as more of the ER doc, although keep in mind I am not a physician or veterinarian at all. I focus on the problem and send a direct intention to the animal to help him correct it. As with any problem, it is better to fix sooner rather than later. Veterinary attention is critical for an optimal outcome, but including remote intention can be very helpful early as well. I would encourage you to contact me in the early stages of an acute injury or illness. For that reason I check my website several times a day so that I can be available to assist your animal when my help can do the most good.

When sending energy healing for a sudden illness such as a horse colic or a new injury I generally expect to see improvement pretty quickly. Long term chronic problems such as cancers or a lengthy lameness can take much longer. To be honest, lengthy lamenesses are the most difficult problems for me to influence. I don’t work ON the animal, I work WITH him for improvement and if he doesn’t feel the discomfort is much of a problem, he may not see a need to change it. Animals can be remarkably successful at “tuning out” the discomfort of a condition they are used to living with.

Back to the question of when to ask me for help. If your animal has a condition you are truly worried about, contact me as soon as you can. We can discuss how I may help and see if your animal is receptive to the assistance. We may conclude it is better not to add energetic healing at the time. One example that comes to mind is a friend who was preparing to put her aging dog down in several days. I offered to ease the old girls discomfort in the meantime. The result was that the dog seemed to feel better, much better over the next days creating an emotional dilemma for the owner. The family had come to terms with what they should do and when. That is not a easy place to get to, and now the data had changed. The family needed to decide whether to alter course and wait or continue with a dog that seemed “better”. In a way, I felt I had let them down by causing them to re-evaluate their decision and timing.

There is no commitment on your part unless all three of us agree that energy healing may benefit your animal at that time. It begins with a conversation and you decide on the next steps that feel right for you and your animal. My first wish is for your animal to remain well. My second wish is to be able to help if that is not the case.
